About the Therapeutic Approach

Clients experiencing a wide range of problems, difficulties, psychological/ psychiatric symptoms or the impact of physical conditions, such as cancer, can benefit from psychological therapy. Professor Wilkinson works mostly with adult patients referred by GPs, Consultant Psychiatrists and Consultants from other branches of medicine.

She has training in several different approaches to therapy including Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic Therapy.

The approach taken and the number of recommended sessions will depend on the specific needs of the individual client and the nature of their difficulties, taking into account practical considerations such as cost and time constraints.

Practicalities

Based near Guildford, Professor Wilkinson works with patients referred by their GP, Psychiatrist or other Medical Consultant and it is her usual practice after discussion with the client, to communicate with the GP and other Health Professionals involved. This is to ensure that a comprehensive 'joined-up' service can be offered.

Her first session is 9:30 am and her last is 6:30 pm on weekdays and sessions normally last for 50 minutes. She is happy to see people face to face, via zoom, facetime etc or a combination of the two.

Professor Wilkinson is a recognised Provider for most health insurance companies (BUPA ,BUPA International, AXA PPP, Cigna etc.)
